Crafty Organizer

This project was a craft project and an organizational project. Like the cover says, "It's a good day to have a good day," and I hope this little organizer helps me do just that.

I'm always going to the craft store and then buying things I don't need--ok, I really, truly need it ALL--or else buying itmes I already have. so I decorated this pocket organizer to use for lists of craft supplies, both for supplies I want to buy and for items I already have.

 

Here's a look at the inside.

Each page has a pocket for notes.  I decorated the whole book very simply, using images from Graphic 45's Typography paper pack for all the inside pockets.

 

Some of the pockets I titled for specific product lines. Although I accidentally cropped out the title, this pocket stores my chart of Copic markers I currently own. I also have pockets for Tim Holtz products, Wendy Vecchi products, craft sprays, etc.

 

I decorated the cover with more Graphic 45 images and some miscellaneous accessories I had.  This picture shows some of the dimension on the cover. To make the book close flat, I only added flat images inside the book.

 

With this book, my artsy side of my life is SURE to stay organized (fingers crossed).

 

Halloween in Wonderland Shadowbox

The inspiration for this Halloween-themed shadowbox came from Pinterest, where I saw a shadowbox from the blog Meme's Art Place made using the same theme.

The papers are from Graphic 45 and are the "Hallowe'en in Wonderland Collection."  I've been hoarding the set for a couple years, so I'm not sure if it's still available.  I've seen similar collections with a Wizard of Oz theme, and those tempt me as well.  The tray/shadowbox is from 7 Gypsies.  The embellishments are miscellaneous finds from my stash.  I also used ribbon, Stickles and Liquid Pearls, and I edged a lot of the papers with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger.

 

Some of the papers are flat against the back of the tray, and I glued some to the top for depth, and I like the shadows they make.  Here's a close-up look at my favorite--the creepy hand reaching toward the white rabbit.

It's hard to see, but the pocket watch's face on the right is covered with shiny Stickles.

The Mad Hatter's bowtie and socks both have Liquid Pearl highlights.

 

This project was fun and probably only took 1 to 1 1/2 hours, mostly because the papers all matched so I didn't have to make a lot of paper/color decisions.

I just found out about the company Graphic 45 at Scrapfest.  I cut this image from a full sheet and added ribbon and a hinge for a simple thank you card.

More pictures from Scrapfest.  This was the main classroom at the Best Buy Rotunda.

Here's Tim Holtz at a Project Demo.  I like a lot of his products.  Most stampers/papercrafters are familiar with him--here's his website:  http://www.timholtz.com/.  Other businesses that stood out to me at Scrapfest were:  Karen Foster Design (great products and a wonderful booth), Cosmo Cricket (a fun booth--really nice people), Graphic 45 (new to me--their papers are awesome), and lastly, my favorite new find of the weekend, Unity Stamp Company.

 

These pictures were from Unity's booth.  I love their stamps, and the people working were fun, knowledgeable about their products, and didn't take themselves too seriously.

Scrapfest

Back from Scrapfest at the Mall of America.  This is the lanyard I was rockin' all weekend.  Pretty much impossible to not look ridiculous in a lanyard, let alone one that's 5x7.

Robin (with head turned away) crafting a make-n-take at the EK Success booth.  As a whole we thought the make-n-takes weren't worth standing in line for.  Some of the lines were over an hour long.  Some women had rolling carts with handmade seat cushions on them so they could sit down in line.  As a rule, unless it's a tailgate or a picnic, I don't want to go anywhere that I need to bring my own chair, especially if it's because of standing in line.

There were SOME great free make-n-takes though.  These are my favorites.  The flower at the top left is from Graphic 45's booth; the flower tag is from Unity Stamp Co.; the ghost card--Tombow (?); then on the bottom row the flower card is from Cosmo Cricket; the snowman tag--Our Craft Lounge (actually at a promo booth with Copic and Sparkly Fluff); and the Christmas card was made at Karen Foster's booth.
