Honey Bee Stamps Beach Cards

A break from Disney!

I needed a couple birthday cards, and no surprise, I wanted a beach theme for both. I recently ordered Honey Bee Stamps' "Flippin Fabulous" stamp set and matching dies, along with their "Beach Vibes" 6x6 paper stack.

The stamps and dies are great quality. I've never bought Honey Bee Stamps products before, but I definitely will again. 

I made this card for my friend using the stamps, dies, & paper. I used blue glitter embossing powder for the sentiment and raised it with dimensional adhesive. I spread Nuvo glitter drops (blue lagoon) on the sandal straps. I also added some little shiny star and circle sequins.

The second card needed to be masculine. I just changed up the colors of the sandals (I paper-pieced these), and added some brown strips under the sentiments, which I stamped in plain black. The paper is another from the same Honey Bee stack but more subtle.  I distressed all the edges with brown ink. Just those few changes made this card much for masculine, although I think both cards could be for either a female or male recipient.

Tip: The sandals come as one stamp, but I cut them apart so I could position them however I want. The dies are already separated.

It's Your Birthday: Sip, Sip Hooray!

Quarantine Crafts

Lots of friends have had birthdays during this time of social distancing, and I've been trying to make sure I send them all a card. (They're probably pretty surprised, because although I make a lot of cards, I rarely send them myself.)

The inside of this card says "Sip, Sip, Horray!"  It was made with a Stampers Anonymous "Cocktails Blueprint" stamp from the Tim Holtz collection.  I colored it with Copics and added the little shell stickers (from Amy Tangerine) on the right for balance. "It's Your Birthday" and "Sip Sip Hooray" are from a stamp set "Cheers" sold at a local store, Memory Bound.  Please check out their website and watch their daily Facebook videos. They're a small business working hard during these days they have to remain closed, and their online store is always open.

Art Journal-like Birthday Card

I've been playing more with art journaling techniques lately, and this card shows several: layers and layers of ink, stamping, doodling, etc. The main image is from Wendy Vecchi, along with the "Happy Wishes" that goes all the way around the outside of the card. The wings and flowers at the bottom are from CTMH. The rest are sprays (mostly Ranger) and doodles. I paper-pieced the dress and hat on the lady, colored her with Copics, and added "pearls" for her necklace and earring.

 

Everything Is Better with a Friend Birthday Card

I pretty much love everything about this card, if I do say so myself. I even like the photograph. And, everything IS better with a friend.

 

Again, I was thrifty and used scrap paper! The stamp is from the Girlfriends line by Art Impressions titled "Laughing." The sentiment is from CTMH's "Better with a Friend" stamp set.

Both the image and sentiment are matted in black cs, and I used a miscellaneous flower and some bling from my stash.

 

I used Copics to color the ladies and the open areas in the word "friend."

One thing I like to do when coloring with Copics, which was probably taught to me at my first Copic class, is to outline everything in light grey. I use C1 Cool Grey. It gives the image a little depth. Also, the pool of grey color around their feet grounds them so they aren't hanging in the air.

Wavy Blooms Birthday Card

I like the way this card turned out. It's another made from scrap paper I had on hand. The flower is from CTMH's "Wavy Blooms" stamp set, and the sentiment is from CTMH's "Joyful Birthday" set. The white paper was stamped with a wooden background stamp with yellow polka-dots in CTMH's Canary ink. I colored the flower and leaf with Copics, used clear and orange Stickles on the flower, and attached the piece with dimensional adhesive.

The inside of the card says ""Do What Makes You Happy" also from the "Wavy Blooms" stamp set.

Mojo Monday Challenge 382

The snow has me being very crafty today, so I participated in this week's Mojo Monday Challenge.

 

The challenge was to make a tall & skinny card using the following sketch as inspiration:

 

Here's what I came up with:

I went with a card 3.75" x 8.5" that fits into a standard business envelope.  The papers are from CTMH's "Lollydoodle" paper pack.  The bird is "Cha Cha" from Whipper Snapper Designs. "Happy Birthday" is the CTMH stamp "Heartfelt Birthday Wish." The bird and sentiment are both colored with Copics, and I added sparkles to the bird's feathers and the left side of the white oval.  The ribbon (which I should have straightened before I took the picture) was from my stash.

 

Stormy Seas / Art Impressions Card

The beach-going gal on this card is in the "Sally Swimmer" set from Art Impressions.  I colored Sally with Copic markers and affixed her with dimensional adhesive.  Everything else is from CTMH's "Tommy" paper pack and workshop on the go.  I didn't take a photo of the inside, but it says simply,
"Happy Birthday."

Art Impressions Birthday Card with CTMH Roxie

This photo isn't the best, but I think this card turned out pretty cute.  I love the series of "old people" stamps from Art Impressions.  This lady on the couch came with the sentiment, which I also used.  It stamped much more clear than shown in the pic.  I stamped the image both on the plaid paper and  then on white cs.  I cut out the couch in the plaid, then colored the lady with Copic markers and paper pieced them together.  The plaid, along with the other background B&T papers, are from the CTMH
retired Roxie paper pack.

This picture is even less clear than the first one, ugh.  But you can see how I added CTMH Liquid Glass to both the wine glass and the lady's glass lenses.  I also added some cinnamon Stickles to the leopard print shirt and her shoes, and I stuck a little bling on her earrings.

 

Life Is Tweet Birthday Card

This colorful little birthday card came together easily.  I used CTMH Lagoon cs, and ran the inner piece through my Cuttlebug.  The bird and sentiment are from CTMH's "Life is Tweet" stamp set.  I stamped the bird once on the tag, and then again on a separate piece of paper and cut it out.  I paper pieced the body over the image on the tag so the image went off the tag, but I didn't have to cut around the skinny bird legs.  The punch along the left edge is from EK Success, and the punch around the sentiment is from SU.

Flying Typewriter Birthday Card

I made this card for a friend's daughter's birthday who loves old books.  All the paper is from CTMH's new Scholastic paper pack.  The typewriter and mini clip are from SU, but the wings and black bling flourish are from CTMH.

I forgot to take a picture of it until I got to work, so it's a little fuzzy because it's off my phone, but I think it turned out great, and I'm planning to make some more flying typewriters.

Clementine Birthday Card

The colors of this card just seem happy to me.  The paper (and color inspiration) are CTMH's new paper pack Clementine.  The flowers and punched and I cut the banner freehand.

Scholastic Birthday Card

This birthday card was made with papers from CTMH's new paper, "Scholastic."  The stamp set for "Birthday" is the "Cocktail" alphabet, which I outlined with black.  The pennant was cut freehand from "Scholastic" papers.  I lifted the idea from a card designed by Jane Guthrie in the Fall 2012 issue of Paper Creations magazine.

Lollipop Birthday Card

Another card I copied from a fellow blogger.  This time from Wendy at Happy Stamping Designs.  Wendy had her version of this card published in Paper Crafts magazine, so I have to give both Wendy and Paper Crafts credit.

The lollipop is made from all circles.  For the inside sentiment, I used a CTMH stamp that came with the Cricut Artiste collection that says, "Hope Your Birthday's As Sweet As You."

Back to School Birthday Card

I saw this card on J.J. Bolton's blog and had to copy it.  Mine isn't exactly like hers, but close enough that I must give her all the creativity credit.  I used CTMH cs, CTMH "Family Ties" stamp set, and a new CTMH Cricut Artiste collection stamp and coordinating Cricut shape for the banner.  Please check out J.J. Growing Older But Not Up - Collage Card

I been experimenting with collage cards and some products I purchased way back last winter from Lindy's Stamp Gang after Tresa Black's Creative University art retreat.

This birthday card has A LOT going on.  I started with some CTMH Heavenly Blue cs and stamped a newspaper image on it.  Then I sprayed it with Lindy's Tiffany Blue and Van Dyke Sepia mists.  I stamped some misc. flowers over that in CTMH's Colonial White ink, and some misc. swirls in CTMH's new Slate ink.  I drew black borders with a Sharpie.  The rose in the bottom right corner is from CTMH's new Love Blooms stamp set, embellished with Liquid Pearls.  The drink glass is again sprayed with Lindy's products and really shimmers.  It's outlined in CTMH's new metallic ink pen and embellished with ribbon and a swirl in CTMH's new Ruby ink.  A strip of Tim Holtz's tissue tape is diagonal across the bottom left.  "Growing Older But Not Up," lifted from a Jimmy Buffett song, was printed with my label maker and outlined sloppily in black.  The butterfly and flower are both paper embellishments from CTMH, painted in metallic watercolor from Yasutomo.  The card base is simply CTMH colonial white distressed with Tim Holtz distress inks, Vintage Photo and Olive.  Thanks for looking! 

Bowwow Birthday / H2H Challenge

I decided to play along with the Heart 2 Heart Card Challenge this week:  "Dog Days of Summer."  The challenge was simply make something with a dog in it.  I hadn't used CTMH's "A Bowwow" stamp set yet, so I started with that.

The dog image is obviously from the Bowwow set.  I colored him with Copics and added a little bling to his dog collar, using the sparkly Spica pens for the nose and eye.  The butterfly is from CTMH's Delight stamp set.  The body of the butterfly is glued down, but the wings are popped up with dimensional adhesive.  "Happy Birthday" is from CTMH's Card Chatter-Birthday stamp set.  For the background, I used B&T paper from CTMH's new Dakota paper pack.  Lastly, the grass was cut with a MS punch.

Birthday Card from Antique Postcards

The butterflies and "Happy Birthday" were stamped, and the ribbon and flowers are new, but the postcard, roses, and lilly of the valley are all from antique postcards.

Typeset Birthday Card

I really like the new Typeset paper from CTMH.  This time I used it for an old fashioned looking birthday card.  I paired it with the All You Need Is Love stamp set.  The outside sentiment is a little hard to read in the picture.  It says, "Just living is not enough..."

The inside says, "one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. --Hans Christian Andersen"

"Happy Birthday" is from the stamp set Card Chatter-Birthday.  The stamps were all colored with copic markers, but everything else is CTMH.

Golf Birthday Card

The B&T papers for this golf-themed birthday card are from Karen Foster Design.  The flag is one of the stamps from Unity Stamp Co.'s stamp set Vintage Banners.  I used a row of bling for the pole.  "Happy Birthday" is from Close to My Heart's "Say It in Style" set.

Piece of Cake Birthday Card

The main colors are CTMH's blush, juniper, and sky.  The cake is from CTMH's Piece of Cake stamp set, and the sentiment is from Fringed Phrases.  The background blush cs is stamped tone-on-tone with a stamp from CTMH's Friendship set.
