Walking Around the World

 Why Our Feet Got Tired at Disney World

This layout is all about walking, and walking, and walking. Or riding too if you were Finn & Shae. I used elements from Echo Park's Magical Adventure, along with some old CTMH papers. I made the title using a Tim Holtz Thinlits Sizzix die, which I added some black Nuvo Crystal Drops to.

Although only a one-page layout, I also added an extra photo insert for this layout.

Cinderella's Castle

 The Iconic Symbol of Magic Kingdom

So many pictures of the castle at Magic Kingdom....

I used another paper from Sandy Lion for the background, which included the castle silhouette at the topo right. The paper castle on the right was cut from my Cricut, and I added Blue Lagoon Nuvo Glitter drops.

"Castle" was cut out on my Sizzex Big Shot with a Thinlets Tim Holtz alphabet.

The photo at the bottom right was made by Disney and included in our Photo Pass extras.

Notice the two photobombers in the bottom left picture of to the right (Tom & Finn).

Mad Tea Party

 Disney Classic

First, this page should probably have been an Alice in Wonderland theme, but I didn't have any Alice paper, and this Winnie the Pooh paper from Sandy Lions' Disney paper stack went well with the colors and had a lot of circular pattern to it.  

The title is done with stickers, and I added the Tigger chipboard character. The pictures on the ride aren't the best because they were at night. The bottom picture of Shae was in one of the original cups located at a shop in Disney Springs.

Magic Kingdom Layout

 Classic Main Street, U.S.A.

I hadn't done a white background layout yet, so I went with that here. I like the starkness and the contrast between the pictures and other papers against the white background.

I used some black cardstock, and some scraps from my Echo Park paper pack Magic Adventure. The large Mickey is an old sticker I had, and I added some Nuvo crystal drops. The title is made from a chipboard alphabet I had in my stash. I also added a "hidden Mickey" Nuvo drop as the period after "St." The phone at the bottom is a photo that came with our Photo Pass.

This page has more papers from Echo Park and some Mickey punches. The long picture at the top is a postcard we picked up several trips ago. There's nothing like watching kids' excitement as they walk down Main Street toward Cinderella's Castle for the first time.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween

 Dance Party!

As part of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween, there's a big dance party. Shae and Finn had a lot of fun. It didn't even phase Shae when she was knocked over by Sully (last photo).

The pictures were all taken at night with some weird lighting, but by printing them all a smaller size and not lining them up straight, it gives it a party feel. "dance party" is made with stickers, and the phrases are all from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. The paper is from DCWV collage art paper stack.

More Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

 "Family Memories"

This is just a quick layout of some more pictures from Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I like how happy they all are in the first picture and then Finn and Shae are SO tired in the last two pictures on the side. Seems about right for every Disney day. This page was made with scraps from my Echo Park Magical Adventure paper pack. I added Nuvo Crystal Drops and a flat clear disc to the camera lens. The tickets were part of a paper pattern, and I fussy cut them out.

Pirates of the Caribbean Layout

A Magic Kingdom Classic

The background of this page is black cardstock, then the brown piece from the Sandy Lion Disney stack of papers (I know this is actually themed for Peter Pan, but it works), and then the blue paper on top. I tore, crumpled, and ink distressed the brown and blue papers' edges and added a few creases in the center and inked those to make everything look old and more like a treasure map. I printed the title scroll with Word, using a text box and shape. "Yippeeeeee!" is an old sticker, but I thought it worked with Jess's & Neal's bored looks, which I blew up from the ride photo, because that was my only picture from Pirates.

Ice Cream Layout

 Ice Cream on Hot Florida Disney Days

When it's 100 degrees in Florida, maybe ice cream isn't the greatest idea, but if the grandkids want ice cream at Disney World, that's what they're going to get.

These Mickey ice cream cones were our first treats at the Magic Kingdom, and they melted fast. The title and ice cream cones are cut with my Cricut from a CTMH cartridge. (I don't have a new Cricut, but I still have my old one and a hand full of cartridges. I've never used it that much, so I don't think it's worth it for me to upgrade to the new online version.) I added the cross hatches to the cones and distressed around the ice cream and cones to make them stand out a little better.

I made the Mickey ice cream bars simply using my Mickey punches, I cut out a "spill" for the dropped cone in the upper right. I like printing a series of pictures a little smaller for interest. The six pictures of Shae starting to eat her Mickey bar at Disney Studios are wallet size.

Belle and Gaston Layout

 Shae's Absolute Favorite!

While Finn's number one must-see was Baymax, Shae really wanted to see Belle. She got to meet her during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. You can tell Shae was a little tired, and a lot sweaty, but she was SO happy. She was a little nervous to meet Gaston at first (because he's mean!), but Belle convinced her that he is nice now.

First, sorry about the show and crooked picture. I swear the title is straight! The background is from the paper pack "Best of Heidi Swapp." It's less grey and more brown in person. The title stamp and journaling block are retired stamps from CTMH. "Belle" seems easier to read in person. The embellishments are all from my stash. The abstract square surrounding the "B" is a Sizzix Thinlits die.

Again, this layout is square in person!. The top right was curling up a little, so it made the whole thing look askew. The background paper here, as well as the blue mat & heart on the left page are from the DCWV paper stack called "Collage Art." I cut some of the flowers from the same paper as the left page to put on the edges.

Again, we had so many pictures, and they were all so cute, I added a photo insert page to hold six additional pictures of Shae with Belle and Gaston.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Layout

 Another All-Disney Photos Layout

We only had Disney ride photos for this Magic Kingdom attraction, so I blew up and cut out Jess & Neal from one of those photos for the third photo. The title are stickers, and I cut out all the "jewels" and triangle metallic pieces. The round "jewels" are made by punching circles and then cutting them into six pieces and then putting them back together on a black punched circle. The patterned paper is a wood grain, and I added a lot of Nuvo drops and wrote "Hi-Ho!" randomly on it. I haven't ridden the ride personally, but Jess said there are "gems" everywhere, so it works.

The Great Goofini Layout

 A Goofy Layout from Magic Kingdom

I used another paper pack that's retired from CTMH. I'm putting in a conscious effort to use up out some of my paper stash. This one, however, fits perfectly with Goofy's Great Goofini theming and costume.

The picture on the top left of this page is one of our favorites of Shae from the whole trip. She was completely immersed into the magic of Disney.

The stars were punched out of the patterned papers and then put on other coordinating papers to go with Goofy's theming and the star paper that was part of the paper collection.

I typed the journaling in Word, highlighting a few phrases in coordinating colors, and printed it on white cardstock. 

I also printed "The Great Goofini" on cardstock after typing it in Word. In the bottom left picture of this page, Shae is so happy that she's almost crying.

Tomorrowland Layout

 "Future World"

Finn loves space, so this picture of him looking at this giant globe had to be showcased. I used CTMH retired papers and a round piece of CTMH chipboard for the half circle. For the title I used two kinds of chipboard alphabets. I didn't have enough of either to use just one, and I like the look and will do it again. "Tomorrowland" was stamped with CTMH "Typewriter" alphabet (retired). I few of the hexagons in the pattern paper are filled with silver Nuvo Drops.

For some reason when I was making this layout I thought the name of Tomorrowland WAS Future World (I know better), so I had to add the little "Tomorrowland." It's one of those mistakes that works.

Magic Kingdom Layout

 Fantasyland Magic

Disney World is truly a magical place for kids (and for adults too if you're watching a child experience it.). Fantasyland is directly behind the iconic castle in about the center of Magic Kingdom and the most classic Disney rides, including the carousel. 

To match the carousel, I used a gold velum stripe and put it over a light blue cardstock. Shae's little white "tinkerbell" dress even has a little sparkle to it. The photo of the carousel is a Disney stock photo from our Photo Pass cd. For the title, I hand wrote it with a gold pen and spaced the letters out more than usual.

I believe the "magic" strip is from Echo Parkm, as is the yellow paper with the stars. The large white felt stars are from my stash, and there are lots of silver and gold Nuvo drops.

(I swear these pages are square--apparently I am incapable of taking a square photo.)

Frontierland Layout

More Fun at Magic Kingdom

I didn't have a lot of pictures from Frontierland, but Finn was able to ride both Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad and really enjoyed it, so I made do.

The wood grain paper is from CTMH, and most of the stickers are from a set called "Toy Box"--not sure of the manufacturer, I used them up! "Frontierland" was cut with my Cricut. The picture on the left was from our Photo Pass stock photos. The right picture taken on Splash Mountain cracks me up because of the lady in the back holding her hat. It's almost like she was photoshopped in.

Same papers and stickers here. The Woody and Jessie are from an old sticker set. The right photo was another Disney stock photo, and the one on the left is one that our Photo Pass purchase added the characters on--actually it was a little movie with Woody and Jessie, but I pulled a frame out for a still picture. I added the little picture of Finn in the wanted poster just for fun.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

 Magic Kingdom after Hours Event

Another one-page, one photo layout: This is the Disney photo taken of Jess's family at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, a Magic Kingdom after hours event that lasts from August through early November each year normally, although not this year because of the pandemic. 😥

The patterned papers are so old--from a trip ten years ago to Scrapfest at the Mall of America. I used my Mickey punch, a little pocket and tag, and some Tim Holtz words for extra interest. The strip of candy canes that kind of looks like washi tape, is actually one of their wristbands for the event.

The Haunted Mansion

A Classic Ride and a Hitchhiking Ghost

My Haunted Mansion layout is made up with many different Halloween items and embellishments. I don't know where most of them are from, but I do know that the two spooky people in the graveyard and the lines of black text are from Tim Holtz.

All three photos in this layout were taken by Disney cast members (employees). We bought the Photo Pass Disney offers, which sounds expensive (We paid $125 I think--maybe more because of the CD?), but I would do it again. With the photo pass you get digital copies (online for a a limited time plus a CD if you choose) of every picture cast members take--around the park, with characters, and on the rides. I'm guessing these pictures would cost more than $10 each if purchased separately. You also get some fun extras: like the hitchhiking ghost in the last picture! It was fun looking through the pictures and seeing when they added the "extras" to the photos. And, with the CD, you get professional stock pictures of many of the attractions and parades.

If your budget doesn't allow you to purchase the Photo Pass, then I suggest letting the cast members take the pictures and then asking them to take another with your own phone. They'll happily do it.

Space Ranger Spin

 Two-Page Layout

One of our most-ridden attractions was Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom. I believe it was the first ride we went on, and everyone rode it more than once.

This layout is mostly cardstock. The sticker at the top and bottom left border are from a set called "Toy Box" I bought at my local scrapbook store. 

The bullseyes are cut from some Sandy Lion paper. I added different colored capital letters to the journaling to add a little variety.  All the "stars" on the black paper are Nuvo drops. All of these pictures are ride pictures (we bought the package before we even left home), and we thought it was funny that little Shae was so short she didn't even show up above the dash of the ride. She loved shooting the targets, and it didn't matter to her if she hit anything or not.

Buzz Light Year Layout

The first character the kids met was Buzz Lightyear outside the Space Ranger Spin ride. Shae was thrilled. Finn was shy. The layout is a mix of old papers and items from my stash. I cut out the Buzz in a star from a paper in the Disney Sandy Lion paper pack.

More Disney Magic

Dumbo Ride Layout

Classic Disney ride Dumbo. Who knew there are TWO Dumbo rides now? Apparently, it's such a classic that they made two identical rides to cut down on wait time. It wasn't too busy the day we were there. It's nice they have an extra ride vehicle for pictures outside the ride too.

Originally, this was a one-page layout because all the pictures I had were from outside the ride:

Then, I discovered more pictures Jess took on the ride, so weeks later I added the right side. I didn't have enough of the papers left from the first side, so I really pieced together the second page. Together they look fine I think.

Winnie the Pooh

And Tigger Too!

Shae LOVED Pooh & Tigger. The handler must have loved her too, because they took lots of extra pictures of her, and Pooh pretended to keep her away from Tigger and wouldn't let her go. There were a lot of people in line, and they all oohed and aahed over her, so I don't think it upset them. She was just so cute with the characters!

This layout is a combination of cardstock, old CTMH papers, and Sandy Lion papers. I picked up the diecuts from my LSS, and the flower were in my stash.

I used dimensional adhesive to pop up the cutout of Pooh with the kite.

"Pooh & Tigger" are Thickers, and I typed up the journaling on my typewriter.
