Up's Kevin!

 A Character Favorite

We just happened to see Kevin on Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom. He was just coming out from behind the scenes when we spotted him, so there weren't many other kids around.

(Crooked picture.) I used some miss-matched rainbow paper and embellishments to go with Kevin's general color scheme. The title was done with the Posterboard alphabet stamps from CTMH that are long-since retired. They are a favorite--so many different ways to use them. Check out these layouts with the letters colored and using patterned paper:: 

The journaling was done in Word with a text box. I changed the background to black and the font color to white. Preparing and printing the text box probably took the longest of anything on this very easy layout.

The Boneyard

A Playground for Little Dinosaur Explorers

I used a mixture of CTMH rustic and industrial papers to make this layout match The Boneyard, which is a playground located in Disney World's Animal Kingdom Park. The kids loved it, and it's enclosed so they can wander a little bit more than usual.

The title is cut from a Cricut cartridge, and I tore and distressed some tags for some of the journaling.

I distressed the tags by crumpling them up, then inking over them.

On both pages I added a few metal embellishments. I also tried to make the journaling a little sloppy and on the second tag I went over some of the letters with more ink, to look messier. Everything, including Finn's & Shae's outfits, all coordinated.

Space Ranger Spin

 Two-Page Layout

One of our most-ridden attractions was Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom. I believe it was the first ride we went on, and everyone rode it more than once.

This layout is mostly cardstock. The sticker at the top and bottom left border are from a set called "Toy Box" I bought at my local scrapbook store. 

The bullseyes are cut from some Sandy Lion paper. I added different colored capital letters to the journaling to add a little variety.  All the "stars" on the black paper are Nuvo drops. All of these pictures are ride pictures (we bought the package before we even left home), and we thought it was funny that little Shae was so short she didn't even show up above the dash of the ride. She loved shooting the targets, and it didn't matter to her if she hit anything or not.

Toy Story Land

 Slinky Dog Dash

This is a pretty busy layout, but then so is Toy Story Land. I used paper from Sandy Lions Disney paper pad and cardstock. All the little dots are Nuvo Drops. The bottom picture is the ride photo, and the top photo is Finn proudly meeting the height requirement to ride Slinky Dog Dash.

Buzz Light Year Layout

The first character the kids met was Buzz Lightyear outside the Space Ranger Spin ride. Shae was thrilled. Finn was shy. The layout is a mix of old papers and items from my stash. I cut out the Buzz in a star from a paper in the Disney Sandy Lion paper pack.

More Disney Magic

Dumbo Ride Layout

Classic Disney ride Dumbo. Who knew there are TWO Dumbo rides now? Apparently, it's such a classic that they made two identical rides to cut down on wait time. It wasn't too busy the day we were there. It's nice they have an extra ride vehicle for pictures outside the ride too.

Originally, this was a one-page layout because all the pictures I had were from outside the ride:

Then, I discovered more pictures Jess took on the ride, so weeks later I added the right side. I didn't have enough of the papers left from the first side, so I really pieced together the second page. Together they look fine I think.

Expedition Everest

 Back to Disney World:

We didn't have any pictures from Expedition Everest except Jess & Neal's Disney ride photo. That made for a good one-picture layout opportunity, where you can get more creative.

The papers are VERY old from my stash, and I tucked some antique looking ephemera around the edges because it is an "expedition."

I really like how the mountains are outlined with the white cardstock.  I got this idea from this layout from Kim Ege on SweetShoppeDesigns.com, which I saw on Pinterest and knew right away I would use the idea for this photo.

Honey Bee Stamps Beach Cards

A break from Disney!

I needed a couple birthday cards, and no surprise, I wanted a beach theme for both. I recently ordered Honey Bee Stamps' "Flippin Fabulous" stamp set and matching dies, along with their "Beach Vibes" 6x6 paper stack.

The stamps and dies are great quality. I've never bought Honey Bee Stamps products before, but I definitely will again. 

I made this card for my friend using the stamps, dies, & paper. I used blue glitter embossing powder for the sentiment and raised it with dimensional adhesive. I spread Nuvo glitter drops (blue lagoon) on the sandal straps. I also added some little shiny star and circle sequins.

The second card needed to be masculine. I just changed up the colors of the sandals (I paper-pieced these), and added some brown strips under the sentiments, which I stamped in plain black. The paper is another from the same Honey Bee stack but more subtle.  I distressed all the edges with brown ink. Just those few changes made this card much for masculine, although I think both cards could be for either a female or male recipient.

Tip: The sandals come as one stamp, but I cut them apart so I could position them however I want. The dies are already separated.

"Wild Thing" Layout

Shae at Animal Kingdom

Whether on vacation or at home, Shae is always our "wild thing," so this layout around Animal Kingdom suits her well.

Shae wore her animal print dress for her day at Animal Kingdom, which made for great photos.  The stickers for the title were all in my stash. "WILD" was all cream colored, so I used Nuvo drops to add the leopard spots. I used black and gold Nuvo drops and used her dress as a guide for how to do it.

More leopard spots in the upper right. I used my typewriter to describe each photo. I was pleased that I had the patterned paper (along both sides of this page and on the left side of the other layout) that matches the metal wall in the bottom right photo. It's from the discontinued CTMH "Urban" paper collection.

Alien Swirling Saucers

A Very Handmade Layout

(Caution: crooked photo again) This one-page layout started with a purple piece of cardstock and a black piece of cardstock cut shorter all around. I then cut out the aliens freehand at the bottom (and it shows). I used circle punches for the eyes and antenna. Then I outlined the aliens with Nuvo drops. I handwrote the title. cut out the Buzz Lightyear picture from Sandy Lion paper, and added the sticker "The Claw" across the top. The two orange rectangles are just for a little color balance. I added random silver Nuvo drops randomly on the black background to look like space.

I think it turned out okaaaay. My daughter pointed out that ears on the aliens would have helped--oops!

Winnie the Pooh

And Tigger Too!

Shae LOVED Pooh & Tigger. The handler must have loved her too, because they took lots of extra pictures of her, and Pooh pretended to keep her away from Tigger and wouldn't let her go. There were a lot of people in line, and they all oohed and aahed over her, so I don't think it upset them. She was just so cute with the characters!

This layout is a combination of cardstock, old CTMH papers, and Sandy Lion papers. I picked up the diecuts from my LSS, and the flower were in my stash.

I used dimensional adhesive to pop up the cutout of Pooh with the kite.

"Pooh & Tigger" are Thickers, and I typed up the journaling on my typewriter.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Finn Finds the Drums

This is another layout of miscellaneous papers from my stash that didn't come as a set. I used a cream cardstock for the "folder" behind the photo to make it look like a manila folder. I typed the "label" and my journaling on my old typewriter.  All the words and Mickey hand on the left side are stamps.

Finn was having a little bit of a rough morning. But, when he saw these drums, he lit right up, set it Kevin toy on the front, and started playing away. It was a moment we all remember well and one worth an 8x10 photo on its own page.

Disney World Layout

So Many Characters!

These patterned papers are super old from CTMH, but work perfectly for Disney layouts.

The Mickey silhouette is a punch. The fine black circles are made with a very vine black pen traced around a large circle. I intentionally made it a little sloppy and went over it a few times. Then I added the stickers for the title and little black stars at random spots on the circle.  There are also a few red "gems" near the Mickey.

This page has two more partial circles like the first page. The black scalloped border along the bottom of both pages is a Bazzil "Just the Edge."

Magic Carpet Ride

Magic Kingdom Layout

This one-page layout was made before I got ahold of the less-than ten pictures my husband took at Disney World.  Now I might need to add a second page. Oh well.

The picture is crooked (again). The title was made with my Cricut, and then I added some white pen highlights to the letters. The trees are stickers. The background paper is CTMH. I used up the long strands of border sparkles from my stash. I added some "gems" for even more magic. The bottom of the B&T paper is scalloped with a punch.

Disney Princess

Our Little Princess

This is another piece of paper from the Sandy Lion Disney paper stack. I cut it down an inch both ways, added a background mat, the photo & mat, journaling & mat, sparkle embellishments, and nuvo drops. That's it. DONE!
